"The best kind of music comes when you’re being intuitive, unconscious of your body, in some ways losing your mind."

You might be surprised to know that Kim Gordon considers herself a visual artist before a musician. But then again, consider the experimental approach to music that Sonic Youth represented at their inception. But Gordon is much more than her career in Sonic Youth. She has been a creator in many forms, whether in art, music, or fashion, both before and after the iconic band.

In 2015, Gordon published a memoir title Girl in a Band: A Memoir in which Gordon opened up about motherhood, music, her art, the demise of her iconic marriage, and her time with Sonic Youth.
